How to Hide Newsstand from iPhone (Can't Be Deleted)
Do you have that one iPhone app on the second screen that you never use and can't figure out how to get rid of? I did too...and it was annoying. I'm pretty anal about my folders and I often rearrange them and recategorize based on what I'm using the most on any given day.
Below is a screen capture of my phone showing that the Newsstand icon can in fact be put into a folder, it's just that you need quick fingers and some patience. I added it in with my online banking app just to see that the process works
The source for this fix was the Apple Support Communities
What you have to do is take two icons and drag them to the second (last) screen on your iphone along with the newsstand app
In the above image you see the two apps on the right have the black x in the top corner which means they can be dragged and dropped.
What you have to do that I can't show in an image is you have to drag one into the other creating a folder. for a brief few seconds the folder is being created which is when you have to drag the Newsstand app into the folder at the same time. It may take a few tries but trust me it works.
The last image is my iphone screen now shows there is only one page of apps. (See the row of dots towards the bottom which shows the number of pages worth of apps)
**One thing to note, this is only useful if you don't use Newsstand. Once you put Newsstand in a folder, it deactivates the app. If you click on Newsstand when it's in a folder it restarts your iphone and when it comes back on the Newsstand is out of the folder.**
Success! You have now (hopefully) gotten rid of that one app that Apple won't let you delete and you now have just one page of app folders.
I realize this is not the most groundbreaking discovery but like I said, I'm anal about my iphone folders and I'm sure I'm not the only one...
